Project Overview

The Octagon is a landmark high-rise residential development helping reshape Birmingham’s skyline. With a complex façade design and extensive areas of internal glazing, the project required a dependable temporary protection solution that would preserve surface quality throughout the build programme. Spraylat International supported McMullen Facades Ltd with Protectapeel GlassDefend to safeguard 13,000m² of glazing and help maintain high presentation standards from installation through to project completion.

The Challenge

Large-scale residential developments place significant pressure on installed surfaces long before handover. At The Octagon, extensive glazing needed to be protected from scratches, scuffs, site traffic and general construction damage over an extended period. The solution also needed to be practical to apply across a substantial area, remain effective for the duration of the works, and remove cleanly without leaving residue or creating additional finishing work.

The Solution

Spraylat supplied Protectapeel GlassDefend, a temporary peelable coating developed to protect glass and other internal surfaces for up to 24 months.
