Project Overview

Eight Gardens in Watford is a high-profile Berkeley Group development designed to bring together luxury and affordable homes alongside retail and commercial space in a fast-evolving urban location. For a complex, multi-phase scheme of this scale, maintaining the condition of internal glazed surfaces during ongoing construction activity was essential. Spraylat International supported the project with Protectapeel GlassDefend, a temporary window protection coating that protects valuable glazing and other finished surfaces while helping contractors maintain quality standards and handover efficiency.

The Challenge

The project was delivered within a busy urban environment with multiple phases, high site activity and continuous movement of people, materials and equipment. In these conditions, internal windows, glass and adjacent finished surfaces are vulnerable to scratches, scuffs and installation damage, particularly as follow-on trades continue working around completed areas. The requirement was for a reliable temporary window protection system that could be applied efficiently, remain in place for an extended period and remove cleanly without creating additional remedial work or delays at final handover.

The Solution

Spraylat’s Protectapeel GlassDefend was selected to provide temporary window protection and internal surface protection across the development’s glazed elements. The coating is designed for easy application and forms a durable protective barrier against scratches and day-to-day site damage. Suitable for glass as well as aluminium, PVCu, acrylic, stainless steel, painted aluminium and polished concrete, GlassDefend offered a flexible solution aligned with the varied finishes typically found on large residential mixed-use schemes. Its long protection window of up to 24 months supported phased construction programmes, while the residue-free peel helped streamline final finishing and presentation. In addition, the product’s British Standard 476: Part 7 1997 Class 1 classification provided added confidence for use within controlled internal construction environments.
