Project Overview
Spraylat International supported Formation Design & Build on the Kennington Park Community Centre redevelopment in Lambeth, London. The mixed-use scheme combines the delivery of eight new apartments and a ground-floor commercial unit with the refurbishment and extension of the retained community centre. For a project of this type, maintaining the condition of newly installed glazing and adjacent finished surfaces during the build programme is essential to achieving a high-quality handover. Protectapeel GlassDefend was selected to provide reliable temporary protection for vulnerable internal surfaces throughout construction.
The Challenge
On a busy redevelopment project with multiple trades working across new-build and refurbishment areas, completed glass and finished surfaces are exposed to scratches, scuffs, site debris and general construction traffic. The project team required a surface protection solution that was straightforward to apply, dependable over an extended programme, and easy to remove without leaving residue. The chosen product also needed to support safe specification requirements for internal use.
The Solution
Protectapeel GlassDefend was used as a temporary peelable coating to protect internal glass and other compatible surfaces during the construction phase. Developed for easy application, the coating forms a durable protective barrier that helps shield surfaces from damage while work continues around them. At the end of the protection period, it can be peeled away cleanly, helping the contractor present completed areas in excellent condition without time-consuming residue removal or rework. Its proven fire performance, including achievement of British Standard 476:Part 7 1997 Class 1, added further confidence for use within the project environment.
