Project Overview

The Ebury Bridge Estate project is one of the most significant housing developments in central London, delivering new affordable homes in South Westminster. Phase 1 comprised 226 residential units across two tower blocks, with works carried out by Stanmore Contractors. With extensive glazing, cladding and façade installation across the development, the project required a dependable glass protection film to preserve finished surfaces and support efficient delivery on a live construction site.

The Challenge

With glazing installed across multiple elevations, the risk of damage during ongoing construction activity was high. Internal and external glass needed protection from scratches, dust and debris contamination, as well as paint and material overspray. Stanmore Contractors required a glass protection film capable of protecting installed glass while maintaining programme certainty, quality standards and budget control. standards and budget certainty.

The Solution

Following a successful on-site demonstration in February 2023, Stanmore Contractors selected Protectapeel GlassDefend for wider use across the project, with application commencing in June 2023. Unlike traditional self-adhesive glass protection film, Protectapeel GlassDefend is airless spray applied, allowing large glazed areas to be protected quickly and efficiently. The peelable coating formed a durable temporary barrier across both internal and external glazing, providing reliable protection against damage throughout the construction phase. This spray-applied glass protection film solution helped reduce waste associated with damaged materials while supporting a more efficient, quality-led installation process.
