PROTECTIVE BOARD
The labour required for protective board is time-consuming. Before it can be installed, both the windows and the board will need to be measured and then cut to size. Additional materials such as hanger pins and tape will also be required to fix the board to the windows.
The application has been calculated to take 4 minutes per m², with labour costs being approximately £25 per hour, in total to apply 5,000m² would cost £8,320 in labour alone!
Removal is also time-consuming and expensive, having to remove the board and hangar pins and then loading the board into skips. As the board isn’t air-tight to the surface, the surface will also need to be cleaned down before handover.

The labour required to apply protective film is also time consuming, as it also needs measuring and cutting to size, which takes around 1.5 minutes per m² costing around £2,773! However, this labour may rapidly increase as protective film tends to lose adhesion, and will need to be reapplied every 4-6 weeks.
The overall cost for purchasing the film, additional materials, application and removal would be £17,806. Due to adhesion loss, damage will occur, resulting in additional repair and replacement costs. These costs have been calculated at 2.5% and £500 per sq m, increasing the project costs a further £62,500, making the overall cost £80,307!
PROTECAPEEL
